6 Key Differences between OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N3

In October 2023, OPPO launched its latest folding smartphone, OPPO Find N3, on a global scale. This new model follows the OPPO Find N2, which hit the market in 2022.

As the newest model, the OPPO Find N3 boasts several upgrades, setting it apart as a foldable phone worth considering. Are you eager to know what's different? Let's explore the key distinctions between OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N3.

1. Sleeker and More Luxurious Design

OPPO Find N3

The most noticeable difference between these two foldable phones is their appearance. The OPPO Find N3 has undergone a significant makeover, including a new style for the camera setup on the back.

The older model, the OPPO Find N2, featured a traditional square camera setup in the top left corner. This setup included three cameras and an LED flash, arranged in a common layout.

In contrast, the OPPO Find N3 sports a bold, large circular camera module at the center, lending it a more luxurious feel. This is further enhanced by the Hasselblad logo, adding to its sophisticated appearance.

Within this circular module, three cameras are neatly placed. Interestingly, the LED flash is positioned separately, located at the top left outside the module.

Despite these design changes, OPPO has maintained the same materials for the Find N3’s back, using glass like its predecessor. Additionally, eco leather options are available for some color variants, similar to the Find N2.

Another notable enhancement in the OPPO Find N3 is its slimmer profile. It measures just 5.8 mm in thickness when unfolded and 11.7 mm when folded, making it slimmer than the Find N2, which was 7.4 mm thick when open and 14.6 mm when folded.

This slimness even surpasses other competitors. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is 6.1 mm thick when open and 13.4 mm when folded.

Besides being thinner, the OPPO Find N3 also provides a practical advantage with its IP rating. It's rated IPX4, meaning it can resist light water splashes, a feature not available in the Find N2.

2. Enhanced Display Features

OPPO Find N3

The OPPO Find N3 showcases significant advancements in its display, which is a crucial aspect for foldable phones. These enhancements make the screen one of its standout features.

Sporting a larger 7.82-inch main screen with a Foldable LTPO3 OLED panel, the Find N3 is ideal for various activities like watching videos, browsing, and gaming. This expansive display is further complemented by slim bezels, achieving an impressive 89.6 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The display's excellence is further highlighted by its superior resolution. The Find N3 offers 2268 x 2440 pixels. This makes a crisp and clear image with a density of 426 pixels per inch.

But that's not all. The Find N3's screen also includes several high-end features like Dolby Vision, a spectrum of 1.07 billion colors, and exceptional brightness reaching up to 2800 nits. This makes the screen easily readable even in bright sunlight.

In comparison, the older OPPO Find N2 features a slightly smaller 7.1-inch screen. It also has thicker bezels, leading to a lower screen-to-body ratio of 87.3 percent. The Find N2 uses a Foldable LTPO AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1792 x 1920 pixels and 370 ppi, supported by HDR10+ and a peak brightness of 1550 nits.

Focusing on the external screen used when the phone is folded, the Find N3 again impresses with a 6.31-inch LTPO3 OLED display, boasting a resolution of 1116 x 2484 pixels and a pixel density of 431 ppi for remarkable sharpness.

The outer screen mirrors many features of the main display, including Dolby Vision and the same high brightness level, allowing seamless usage of both screens.

On the other hand, the Find N2's external screen is smaller at 5.54 inches, with an AMOLED panel, a resolution of 1080 x 2120 pixels, and a brightness of 1350 nits.

While the Find N2's outer screen lacks some advanced features, it is adequately protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, compared to the Ceramic Guard on the Find N3. Additionally, both phones offer a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate for fluid motion across their screens.

3. Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 Versus Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Processors

Let's look at the processors inside these phones. The OPPO Find N3 outperforms its predecessor, thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, one of Qualcomm's fastest and most advanced.

The OPPO Find N2, on the other hand, is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Despite being an older generation, this processor is still quite powerful, partly due to the "Plus" in its name which indicates enhanced performance.

The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is built using TSMC's 4 nm technology and houses eight CPU cores. These cores are divided into three groups: one Cortex X2 core running at 3.0 GHz, three Cortex A710 cores at 2.75 GHz for performance, and four Cortex A510 cores at 2 GHz for efficiency. It also includes the Adrena 730 GPU, clocked at 900 MHz.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, used in the Find N3, also features a 4 nm design and eight CPU cores. This includes a main Cortex X3 core at 3.2 GHz, two Cortex A715 and two Cortex A710 cores both at 2.8 GHz for performance, and three Cortex A510 cores at 2 GHz for efficiency. It's supported by the Adreno 740 GPU, with a frequency of 680 MHz.

When it comes to synthetic testing, according to Nanoreview data, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scores significantly higher than its predecessor. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 still shows strong performance for a mid-to-high-end chipset, with an AnTuTu v10 score of 1,284,175 points, 1774 in single-core and 4634 in multi-core on GeekBench 6, and a 3DMark Wild Life Performance score of 9191 points.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, however, reaches an AnTuTu v10 score of 1,520,303 points, with GeekBench 6 scores of 1993 for single-core and 5328 for multi-core, and a 3DMark Wild Life Performance score of 12,416 points.

Performance isn't solely dependent on the chipset. Memory also plays a role. The OPPO Find N2 offers two RAM variants (12 GB and 16 GB) of LPDDR5 type, with internal storage options of 256 GB to 512 GB. The OPPO Find N3, meanwhile, comes with 16 GB of the more advanced LPDDR5x type RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.

4. High-end Camera Configuration

OPPO Find N3

The OPPO Find N2 and Find N3 both excel in photography, thanks to their high-quality cameras developed in partnership with Hasselblad. Both models feature a versatile triple camera setup on the rear, but with some differences in their specifications.

The OPPO Find N2's main rear camera is a 50 MP (f/1.8) unit, featuring a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 sensor. It supports multi-directional PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for steady shots.

Additionally, there's a 48 MP (f/2.2) ultrawide camera with a Sony IMX581 sensor. This sensor is 1/2 inch in size and provides a Field of View (FoV) of 115 degrees. With autofocus, this camera can also function as a macro camera for close-up shots.

Completing the setup is a 32 MP (f/2.0) telephoto camera with a 1/2.74-inch Sony IMX709 sensor. This camera presents a stable 2x optical zoom, an RGBW color filter, and improved light capture and noise reduction compared to standard cameras.

The Find N2 also benefits from Hasselblad's color calibration and the MariSilicon X chip that enhance image quality and low-light performance.

The OPPO Find N3, however, does not use the MariSilicon X chip. Its main rear camera is a 48 MP (f/1.7) with a larger 1/1.43-inch LYTIA LYT800 sensor, offering better light capture and color accuracy.

This model also includes all-direction autofocus and OIS ensuring clear images in varying light conditions. The ultrawide camera matches the Find N2 in resolution at 48 MP (f/2.2) but has a slightly narrower FoV of 114 degrees.

The telephoto camera on the Find N3 sees an upgrade to 64 MP (f/2.6) with a larger 1/2 inch sensor. This improves 3x optical and 6x hybrid zoom. PDAF and OIS are also included to aid stability for distant shots.

Video recording capabilities are similar in both models, with 4K at 60 fps and gyro-EIS stabilization. However, the Find N3 boasts HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support to increase video quality over the HDR support in the Find N2.

For selfies, both phones feature dual cameras on the inside and outside screens. The Find N2 uses the same 32 MP (f/2.4) cameras for both, while the Find N3 opts for different resolutions: 20 MP (f/2.2) for the inner camera and 32 MP (f/2.4) for the outer.

The Find N3's selfie cameras stand out with their ultrawide lenses and 4K video capability at 30 fps which surpass the Find N2's 1080p at 30 fps. Both models include gyro-EIS for stable selfie videos.

5. Battery Performance
